The Boys in the Band

“The History of St. Peter’s National School” took place in our church on February 2012. The boys and girls from 5th & 6th class entertained the large crowd that gathered in the church for the launch. As well as playing a selection of traditional Irish tunes on the tin whistle the pupils also sang ”Children of the World” -a new song that they have been rehearsing for the upcoming Peace Proms Concert.

We have had a busy month so far! We have been learning all about minibeasts. We learned songs about minibeasts, made a spring garden showing lots of minibeasts and used magic clay – doh to make dragon flies!

We have also been enjoying swimming lessons this term. We have been learning new skills and had lots of fun as well!

PTA Cake & Craft Sale – Dec 2011

This event was a huge success with a big turnout from parents, pupils and friends of the school.

An Art Exhibition of pupils’ work was also on display as well as the 2012 PTA calendar.

This special publication called The Boyne Counties Food Calendar is available from the school at a price of 5 euros.

St. Peter's Pupils at the 2010 Garda Sports Day

Drogheda Garda – Primary Schools Sports Day

The pupils in 5th & 6th Class are again participating in the Annual Sports Day organised by the Gardaí in Drogheda. The event is run each year in memory of the late Tom Connolly who was the town’s first Community Garda. All of the pupils who participated in 2010 had a wonderful day of sport at the GAA grounds on the North Road.

European Schools Project 2009 – 2012

We are continuing to do project work with our partner school Poutun koulu, Lapua, Finland.

At the moment we swap a photo each week. These photos are taken by the senior pupils and they show a scene from everyday school or family life. When we receive our photo from Finland, via a special class email, we have an opportunity to discuss the photo and we read what has been written about the photo by our friends in Lapua.
