All of the classes have been on their school tours at this stage. The Infant Classes travelled with Ms Jackson’s 1st & 2nd Class to Imaginosity in Dublin. The children had a marvellous time at this interactive activity centre and couldn’t stop talking about their day out when they returned.
A few weeks later the senior classes went to see the Dinosaurs Alive exhibition in Funtasia, Bettystown. The top floor of the centre was entirely inhabitated by gigantic robotic dinosaurs. The children also enjoyed bowling and fairground rides on their tour.

All of the pupils participated in our summer term SKIPATHON on May 23rd. We combined this enjoyable activity with a fundraiser for Down Syndrome Ireland. So, following the skipping the pupils cooled down with a refreshing ice-cream. Well done to everyone who helped to make the day a success.

The pupils were treated to a visit from Newgrange Falconry last month. Brian and Barbara McCann had an amazing selection of birds of prey with them on the day. Each class had an opportunity to view the birds close up and the children also learned some fascinating facts about each bird. At the end of the day Brian flew one of the birds across the playground a number of times.

During this school year St. Peter’s has continued to work with our partner school in Lapua, Finland. The pupils in Poutun koulu participated in a “Healthy Lifestyles” project with the children in our school. The areas of diet, exercise and games were looked at by all of the children during the year and some project work was completed and exchanged.
Our school also produced a DVD of the highlights of our school year 2007/08 and this was sent to Lapua.
We look forward to continued co-operation in 2008/09 when we plan to get the PTAs of both schools involved.

Another fantastic day of skipping took place in the school last week when skipping expert, Lee James, travelled from the UK to carry out a series of skipping workshops with the pupils. All of the classes participated on a day when we were blessed with fine weather. Lee demonstrated a whole range of skipping techniques and before long many of the children had learned the moves. At the end of the day Lee selected a number of pupils who had impressed him with their skipping prowess and everyone was treated to a Skipping Exhibition.

Our Lunch Box Policy:
To help cut down on Waste and Litter in the school, our committee came up with some guidelines for parents and pupils:
Try to reduce packaging in your lunch. (Plastic boxes which can be re-used are preferable to plastic bags and packets. See the Gallery )
Take a Lunch Box to school.
When you’ve finished eating, put any paper, packaging or left-over food back into your lunch box to take home. (This way parents can monitor what and how much their children are eating - or not eating.)
